Rise in revenue at Yadagirigutta temple

There was a spurt in income of Sri Lakshminarasimha Swamy Temple, Yadagirigutta, when compared to the past 45 day’s income with corresponding period of last year.

The income has increased by Rs 1.82 crore since the influx of devotees increased considerably during the summer.

The officials in the temple administration attributed the increase in income to various measures initiated by State government to develop the temple on par with Tirumala.

The temple had got wide advertisement in news papers and television channels during the past eight months or so since Chief Minister, K.Chandrasekhar Rao made six visits to the hill shrine during the period to review the progress of development works.

Between May 1 and June 14, the temple has earned Rs 9.10 crore that include hundi collection this year which was just Rs. 7.29 crore last year.

The highest single day income during the period was recorded on June 1 when the temple had earned Rs 40 lakh that was just Rs. 21.50 lakhs last year.

When compared to 2013-14 revenue with 2014-15 financial year’s income, the temple had earned Rs. 6.73 crore more. The officials said that they had earned Rs. 66.58 crore during 2013- 14 financial year, while the income rose to Rs 73.31 crore in the financial 2014-15.

Since they had recorded about Rs 2 crore more income within 45 days during the summer, the officials were expecting that the income would increase by at least 12 to 15 crores in 2015-16 year compared to previous year.

The temple had started receiving over 50,000 pilgrims on weekends. The number of number of pilgrims visiting the temple had touched 70,000 on Sundays in May and June.
