Irrigation minister T Harish Rao has invited Union water resources minister Uma Bharti to participate in the launch of second phase of Mission Kakatiya.
Harish Rao met Uma Bharti in Delhi on Wednesday and requested her to release Rs 297 crore dues under AIBP for Devadula Project. He also requested her to sanction funds for Mission Kakatiya works. Harish Rao told Uma Bharti that the Telangana government had already given sanctions for restoration works on 900 tanks at a cost of Rs 431 crore. He also invited Uma Bharti to participate in the launch of second phase of Mission Kakatiya.
Later, Harish Rao met Union minister for food and public distribution Ram Vilas Paswan and requested him to ensure that the Centre purchases maize by Markfed in the state. Harish Rao said that the TS government purchased 3.16 lakh tonnes of maize paying MSP, out of which Markfed purchased 2.87 lakh tonnes. The state government wanted Rs 212.54 crore claim for the same from the Central government.
Harish Rao also submitted proposals to Union agriculture minister Radha Mohan Singh seeking NABARD assistance of Rs 972.79 crore for the construction of 330 godowns with a storage capacity of 17 lakh tonnes. He urged the Central government to release Rs 56.81 crore for the construction of three cold storages in the state.
Speaking to reporters later, Harish Rao said that he invited Uma Bharti to witness the progress of Mission Kakatiya and also to participate in the launch of second phase of the programme.
