First generation Telangana poet and freedom fighter Ravella Venkata Rama Rao breathed his last yesterday.
Ravella is renowned for his first Telangana song, which is referred to some Telangana activists as Telangana Mathru Geetham.
Ravella Venkata Rama Rao was born on January 31st 1924. He actively participated in the Telangana Peasant Armed Struggle and has also sustained bullet injuries when he was shot by the Rajakars.
TRS MLA Eetela Rajendar and noted Telangana singer Deshapathi Srinivas paid homage to the departed poet.
