Ranganayaka Sagar – A new tourist attraction

A steady stream of visitors is seen at the Ranganayaka Sagar reservoir, which was recently inaugurated by Ministers T Harish Rao and KTR. The 3 TMC capacity reservoir is just a stone throw away from Siddipet town and takes only about 2 hours drive from Hyderabad.

CM KCR has already instructed the government officials to convert Ranganayaka Sagar as a popular tourist destination. Accordingly, the officials are readying a park and a tourism resort at the reservoir.

What adds to the beauty of the reservoir is a hillock in the middle of the water body. This has transformed into a perfect island as Godavari water lifted via Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation project recently filled this reservoir.

Water from Ranganayaka Sagar will be lifted to Mallannasagar and Konda Pochamma Sagar reservoirs.

Proximity to Hyderabad city and the natural beauty of this water body is attracting hundreds of visitors already. Godavari water reaching this parched lands of Telangana is considered by many as a manmade wonder. CM KCR’s relentless pursuit has led to this amazing feat within a short span of three years. Once the park and other amenities are ready we can only expect the rush to increase at Ranganayaka Sagar reservoir.

Apart from Ranganayaka Sagar several barrages, pump houses, canals and reservoirs in the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project are set to become major tourist attractions and will help strengthen the rural economy of Telangana.
