The Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Singh Mann arrived in Telangana to study how the state improved its irrigation. He along with officials visited the Kondapochamma Sagar. The officials apprised him about the Kaleshwaram Project and the reservoirs built by the state government to improve the irrigation in the state.
Speaking on the occasion, the Punjab CM Mann said back in their state they were facing water problem. Though the state produces more paddy, the farmers in their state had to depend on groundwater that is depleting at alarming levels.
He said that he came to study the methods being adopted by Telangana government in improving the groundwater. After going back, his government in Punjab would follow the Telangana models and methods.
The CM wondered the Kaleshwaram Project lifts water to 600 meters and such a huge project was completed in a record time of three years.
