The weavers had worst times in the united state and were forced to commit suicides. The suicides by weavers in Sircilla caught the world attention. Now the situation has changed for the better, thanks to the BRS government.

Chief Minister Mr KCR has launched an insurance scheme for the weavers. This is in addition to the various initiatives such as subsidy for raw material, marketing their product through Bathukamma sarees, uniform supplies to welfare hostels among others.

Minister KTR launched the insurance scheme on August 7, 2022 and the state government pays a premium of Rs. 5,426 for each weavers. A total 35,999 weavers in the state are covered under the scheme.

For whatever reason if any weavers dies, Rs. 5 lakh would be paid within 15 days. Scores of families benefitted from the scheme funding studies of their children and marriage of daughters or investing in their vocation.

The weavers suicides of Sircilla that rocked the Parliament decades ago is history now. The BRS government paid special attention to the plight of weavers and launched a series of initiatives.
