Naini promises to strengthen police department

Home Minister Naini Narasimha Reddy said that the police department is getting ready for ‘Bangaru Telangana’ and towards this objective, the department is being strengthened.

Addressing a gathering after inaugurating the newly constructed police station at an estimated cost of Rs. 66 lakh at Ramayampet, along with Council Chairman M. Swami Goud, and Deputy Speaker M. Padma Devender Reddy on Tuesday, Mr. Narasimha Reddy said that Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has sanctioned Rs. 350 crore for purchasing 1,500 Innova vehicles and 1,500 motor cycles for the department.

Stating these facilities would help the department in controlling crime and reaching the spot on time, the Home Minister said that for the first time in the country, all the police stations in a State are being equipped with vehicles.

Urging the police to be friendly toward citizens, the Home Minister said that considerable funds would be allotted for the welfare of police personnel in the budget.

Weekly-offs for policemen

He said that weekly-offs are being offered to the police in Nalgonda district and that they would be extended to other districts as well.

The Minister said that Rs. 3.9 crore is being sanctioned for the district for the construction of buildings and infrastructure.

Mr. Swami Goud said that citizens should cooperate with the police in maintaining law and order.

Ms. Padma stressed the need for sanctioning more funds to strengthen the department. She has also requested the Home Minister to sanction buildings for DSP and Circle Inspector offices.
