‘Merge our villages in Telangana’: Maharashtra villagers demand

Impressed by the Telangana model of development, villagers of Maharashtra are demanding to merge their villages in Telangana. Maharajguda, Nekwada and 12 other villages in Maharashtra which share a border with Telangana are raising a demand to include them in Telangana. Novel welfare schemes catering to every section of society and the unique developmental projects adopted by Telangana are attracting the villagers of these neighbouring states of Telangana.

The villagers feel that they will also receive the fruits of Telangana’s welfare model such as Aasara pensions, Kalyana Laxmi, Rythu Bandhu, Rythu Bhima, and Mission Bhagiratha to name a few if they become a part of Telangana.

Meanwhile, villagers of Maharashtra’s Patodha village who recently visited Mukhra (K) village in Telangana were amazed by seeing the progress of Mukhra (K). The villagers have now decided to rally behind CM KCR’s Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) to develop their villages too.

Earlier, similar demands were put forward by villages in Maharashtra’s Nanded area and Karnataka’s Raichur area. The proximity of these areas to villages in Telangana is making them feel that they are lagging behind in development when compared to their counterparts in Telangana.
