Prof Madabhushi Sridhar took the oath as Information Commissioner in Delhi yesterday. Chief Information Commissioner, Deepak Sandhu had administered the oath of office.
Speaking to media after taking oath, Prof. Sridhar said he believes that RTI would help curb corruption, as it would promote transparency in government affairs. He said that the RTI applicants should receive the information at the earliest.
Prof Sridhar was working as professor of law at National Academy of Legal Studies and Research (NALSAR) University of Law at Hyderabad until November 20. He had resigned his job at NALSAR to take up the post of Central Information Commissioner in Delhi.
Sridhar had done extensive research in Right to Information (RTI) and has also written four books on RTI.
Friday morning, Prof. Sridhar met Union Minister of State for Personnel V Narayanasamy, who is also the nodal minister for the CIC.
