An alleged lockup death of a tribal from Palem village of Devarakonda constituency in Nalgonda district has created a high tension in Chinthapally mandal on Sunday.
A 56-year-old tribal named Surya Naik was allegedly succumbed to death due to police torture in the Chinthapally police station. The police summoned Surya Naik based on the complaint filed by his brother Bheema Naik over a land dispute.
Surya Naik’s relatives allege that he was beaten up brutally in the custody of Sub Inspector Sathish Reddy which led to his death. The relatives also suspect the role of a MPTC member named Vasanth Naik from the Congress party in the alleged custodial death.
However, the police maintain that Naik was passed away due to high BP and heart stroke. The SI is now transferred and attached to district headquarters in Nalgonda.
