LED Bulbs to all Towns in 100 Days

All municipal towns in the state would be provided with LED bulbs soon.  The state government has decided to install LED bulbs in 25 municipalities in the state in the coming 100 days.

A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting held at the chief minister’s camp office here on Tuesday. Municipal administration minister KT Rama Rao, energy minister G Jagadish Reddy and endowments minister A Indrakaran Reddy and energy and municipal officials were present at the meeting.

Representatives of Energy Efficiency Services Limited (ESSL), a Central government undertaking which supplies LED bulbs, were also present.

Rama Rao requested ESSL officials to supply LED bulbs at a lesser rates to Telangana.
As part of the programme, the government proposed to provide 12 lakh LED bulbs to six lakh houses in 25 municipal towns in the state. The remaining towns and gram  anchayats would also be included in the scheme later, Rama Rao said.

Street lights too would be replaced with LED bulbs in the second phase of the programme, the minister said.

Speaking to reporters later, Jagadish Reddy said LED bulbs would be provided immediately in Nalgonda, Medak and Nizamabad districts.

“Our aim is to see that all the 90 lakh houses in the state have LED bulbs,” Jagadish Reddy said. The government would supply two 9 watts LED bulbs to each house on free of cost.
