KTR writes to union ministers on corruption in AMRUT tenders

BRS Working President KT Rama Rao (KTR) has addressed a letter to Union Ministers for Housing and Urban Affairs, Manohar Lal Khattar and Tochhan Sahu, raising serious concerns about corruption in the AMRUT (Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation) scheme tenders.

KTR has demanded a thorough inquiry into the awarding of contracts, which he claims have been unjustly given to companies associated with the family of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, without adhering to proper qualifications.

In his letter, KTR alleges that contracts worth hundreds of crores under the AMRUT scheme were awarded to companies linked to the Chief Minister’s brother-in-law, Srujan Reddy, despite their lack of eligibility. He claims that the state government has deliberately concealed information regarding tenders awarded over the past nine months and demands that the details of all tenders and the companies that secured them be made public immediately.

KTR has urged the central government to step in and conduct an inquiry into every tender awarded under the AMRUT scheme in Telangana during the last nine months. He has also requested the cancellation of all tenders that violate norms and were awarded under corrupt practices.

Furthermore, KTR expressed anger over the Telangana government’s silence on the matter, despite repeated demands from the opposition to clarify the issues surrounding these tenders.

KTR highlighted that the Congress government, led by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, has been involved in dark dealings by awarding these contracts without transparency. He emphasized that the contracts were awarded to inexperienced companies solely because of their connections to the Chief Minister.

The Municipal Department and other tendering websites have been manipulated to withhold this information from the public, KTR alleged.

KTR has demanded that the Union Ministers take immediate action to release all tender-related documents and make them available to the public. He emphasized the need for a comprehensive review of the tenders, especially those granted to companies without proper qualifications, and for the cancellation of any tenders that violate regulations. If the central government fails to act, KTR warned, it risks being perceived as complicit in the Congress government’s corrupt practices.

KTR also drew attention to the involvement of the Chief Minister’s family, specifically mentioning that Srujan Reddy’s company, along with other firms like Megha and KNR, have secured numerous government contracts without merit. He noted that these companies have been favored, with inflated estimates exceeding 40% of the projected costs. Additionally, he pointed out the Chief Minister’s brother’s alleged shares in KNR company, calling for an inquiry into this as well.

KTR called upon the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs to investigate the corruption in AMRUT tenders and take necessary actions to ensure transparency and justice for the people of Telangana.

He warned that if the central government fails to act, the public may assume its involvement in the corrupt activities of the Congress government under Revanth Reddy’s leadership.
