KCR’s New Year Gift for Contract Workers

It was raining gifts on the people of Telangana on the eve of New Year.

On Thursday, the day when people were getting ready to bid adieu to 2015, chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao took several major decisions which included regularisation of contract employees, enhancing the salary of outsourcing employees and also gave nod for the much-awaited District Selection Committee (DSC) notification.

Rao approved issuance of DSC notification to fill 20,000 teacher posts and another notification for 9,000 constable posts.

Rao, at a meeting with his cabinet ministers and finance officials at the Secretariat, took these key decisions. He said there should be no contract employee system in Telangana in future.

He recalled his promise to regularise the services of contract workers during the Telangana movement and also during pre-poll campaign in 2014.

“All the existing contract employees, whose number is around 50,000 in the state, will be regularised,” Rao announced.

“Chalk out the details of the number of contract employees in each and every department and submit the same before the State Cabinet meeting on January 2,” he instructed the officials.

In yet another major decision, Rao directed the officials to issue the first DSC notification in Telangana, which will benefit a large number of DSC-qualified unemployed youth.

The release of DSC notification has been being awaited by lakhs of educated youth since the formation of Telangana. “Issue notification for DSC to fill around 15,000 to 20,000 teacher posts,” he told the officials.

Rao also directed the officials to increase the wages of outsourcing employees and hand holding employees. Another notification will be issued for recruitment of 9,000 constables in the police department.

Rao forwarded thousands of representations and memoranda he received from individuals, companies and unions during the Telangana movement and other public meetings to the departments concerned for action.
