Ending speculation about merger, TRS supremo KCR has stated that the party would continue its existence. However, he said that the party was open to electoral alliances. KCR said that a committee headed by MP K Keshav Rao will look into the alliance issue.
KCR addressed a pressmeet after a six hour extended meeting with all party leaders. The politbureau, MLAs, MLCs and other senior leaders participated in these deliberations. The meeting unanimusly resolved that there should not be any merger with Congress party.
Speaking to mediamen, KCR listed out how the Congress party had taken several unilateral decisions with regard to Telangana formation. He said that there were many provisions in the statehood bill, which severely harm the Telangana state’s interests.
KCR recounted how he has urged the centre several times not to keep Hyderabad under Governor rule. He expressed his anguish over merging seven mandals of Khammam district in Seemandhra. KCR said that while Polavaram was given national project status, the same was denied to Pranahita-Chevella project.
He also informed how AP Bhavan in Delhi, which should ideally belong to Telangana, was allotted to residual Andhra Pradesh.
KCR said that by admitting dismissed TRS members into their party, Congress has only strained the relationship further.
KCR also expressed his unhappiness over the callous remarks made by Jairam Ramesh in his recent visit.
TRS cadre and leaders in 10 districts of Telangana expressed their happiness over this decision.
