The state government has decided to extend KCR nutrition kits to all districts now. It is expected to benefit a total of 6.84 lakh pregnant women in all 33 districts. It was decided to distribute 13.08 lakh kits and the chief minister KCR approved the file pertaining to the issue on Sunday.
Besides this the state government has been supplying nutritious food through 35,700 anganwadi centres under the Aarogya Laxmi scheme to help the women and children suffering from malnutrition and undernutrition.
The state government has been distributing the KCR kits for new born which contain cosmetic and nutrition items and these KCR nutrition kits are meant for pregnant women.
Health Minister T Harish Rao has thanked the chief minister for clearing the file. He said it was another welfare scheme launched by the government. The schemes are aimed at protecting both the new born and pregnant women. This is the unique scheme ever launched, he added.
