KCR gives Bandh Call against NDA’s unilateral Ordinance on Polavaram submergence villages

The Union Government has cruelly betrayed the yet to be formed Telangana state by illegally transferring 7 Mandals in Khammam district to residual Andhra Pradesh.

The Narendra Modi led NDA government has hurriedly passed an Ordinance in the Cabinet Meeting held today. The latest action has once again proved the influence of Seemandhra lobby on NDA government.

TRS Supremo and Telangana Chief Minister-designate KCR has reacted angrily on this unilateral decision.

KCR gave a call for Telangana Bandh tomorrow in protest against this gross injustice.

Telangana people have been agitating since several years against the Polavaram Dam, which submerges hungreds of tribla villages and displaces lakhs of tribals in Telangana, Chattisgarh and Orissa.

According to Indian Constitution, the transfer of territory from one state to other state or altering the state borders can be done only by passing a Bill under Article 3 of Indian Constitution.

But setting that precendent aside, the Narendra Modi government has set a new and ugly precedent by transferring Telangana villages to Andhra state by way of Ordinance.

Several Telangana organizations, including TNGOs, OUJAC, KUJAC, Teachers JAC, Advocates JAC, Electricity Employees JAC have extended their support to tomorrow’s Bandh.
