Employees to get Central pay- scales
Telangana Chief Minister-designate K. Chandrasekhar Rao has stuck to his promise of announcing Central pay-scales and a special increment for the government staff of Telangana on the occasion of formation of the State.
The special increment will be called ‘Telangana increment,’ Mr. Rao said at a meeting of Telangana employees here on Thursday. He also said there would be no change in the rates of increment for State government staff as they are already in a higher scale than their counterparts at the Centre.
Mr. Rao said there would not be contract employment in Telangana. Roster system would be followed to regularise the contract employees. “The contract system is allergic,” he remarked.
The demand of RTC employees for parity in salaries with State government employees would be met, he said. About 1-1.5 lakh employees would be recruited to the Telangana Power Generation Corporation. He said generation would be solely in government sector and that there will be no private players.
Mr. Rao added that he would see to it that the employees worked in a peaceful framework and atmosphere without bothering about delay in implementation of Pay Revision Commission (PRC) recommendations. Their scales would be increased even before the deadline for submission of recommendations expired, he noted.
Committees would be constituted to finalise promotions in every department within a few days of government formation and all the higher posts that fell vacant due to bifurcation would be filled up, Mr. Rao said. He asked the staff to work the extra hour as people have high expectations from the TRS government. Their absence during the 44-day general strike in 2011 would be treated as ‘in-service’ and they would get full pay for the period, he added.
