KCR Announces Timeline for Projects, Schemes

Chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao has assured that one lakh jobs will be provided in the government sector in the next four to five years and the Mission Bhagiratha will be completed by December 2018.

Giving a point-by-point reply to the issues raised by the opposition parties during the debate in the Assembly on Sunday on the governor’s address, Rao announced the timeline for various works.

He criticised the opposition for speaking in a stereotyped manner. “Let us not curse the TS,” he advised the opposition.

Rao said the previous Congress government had failed to implement the assurances including 24-hour power supply, nine-hour power supply to farmers, completion of irrigation projects, making tribal hamlets as panchayats, making the state hut-free, supply of 6 kg rice to each family and reducing the domestic gas refill prices.

“Had the Congress government made the state hut-free, where is the need for us to launch the double bedroom scheme?” he asked.

The timelines announced by the chief minister are:

One Lakh Jobs: “I never said during the electioneering that every family would be given one job. There are 1.03 crore families in Telangana. Is it possible for any state government to provide 1.03 crore jobs? The present state government’s workforce is just 3 lakh. The job recruitment drive is going on. I can assure that one lakh jobs will be provided in the next three years.”

Pharma City: “Though we had planned Pharma City in an extent of 2,000 acres, we have received a huge number of applications from national and international companies which require 6,160 acres. That is the image of Telangana at national and international levels.”

IT Sector: “Google, Amazon and Cognizant are willing to set up their second largest offices in Hyderabad. Airbus and cargo plane manufacturing units too are coming to Hyderabad.”

Tribal Hamlets: “All the tribal hamlets will be declared as gram panchayats before the next local body elections.”

Mission Bhagiratha: “Mission Bhagiratha will be completed by December 2018. As many as 6,182 villages and 12 municipalities will be supplied piped water for drinking. We are maintaining quality standards in Mission Bhagiratha. The Congress has phobia that it will not get votes if Mission Bhagiratha is completed. Congress leader Gutta Sukhender Reddy wrote a letter to Hudco not to give loans for Mission Bhagiratha.”

Sanna Biyyam: “All the inmates of college and university hostels will be supplied fine variety of rice from this year.”

Kalyana Laxmi: “The Kalyana Laxmi scheme, under which Rs 51,000 will be given as assistance to marry off girl children, will be extended to BCs and all eligible poor among upper castes from this year.”

2-Bedroom Houses: “The contractors who are engaged in Mission Bhagiratha and irrigation project works will be asked to adopt one village and construct double bedroom houses for the poor as part of corporate social responsibility. The government will sanction the money for the houses, the contractors will construct the houses on less margin as they will get reasonable margins on irrigation projects and Mission Bhagiratha.”

Mission Kakatiya: “Restoration of around 8,000 tanks will be completed by March under phase one of Mission Kakatiya.”

Crop Loan Waiver: “The government did not get FRBM relaxation and did not get loans. That is why the crop loans could not be waived in one instalment.”

Huge Investments: “The state has so far attracted investments to the tune of ` 33,000 crore after the launch of TS-iPASS, the best industrial policy in the world. The NIMZS got final clearance. Warangal Textile Park will commence soon. All the products specialised at Surat, Tirupur and Sholapur will be manufactured there.”

Godowns: “Construction of new godowns, which are under construction to store 17 lakh tonnes of agricultural produce, will be completed and ready for inauguration in the next three months.”

Vice-Chancellors: “There is a delay in filling the posts of vice-chancellors of state universities. But we will not commit the mistakes of the past. Even judges are asked to act as vice-chancellors. We will restore the reputation to universities.”

Lands for Dalits: “Distribution of 3-acre land to Dalits is not a one or two-year programme. It is a continuous process.”

Health: “All the vacant posts in the medical and health department will be filled up soon. Those doctors who work in villages will be given special allowance. The ‘108’ ambulance service will be strengthened.”

Quto for Muslims, STs: “The commissions on Muslims and STs will submit their reports soon. We are committed to providing 12 pc reservation to Muslims and STs. As there is no provision in the Constitution for religion-based reservation, Muslims will be provided reservation in BC category. We will follow the Tamil Nadu model.”
