Ever since Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy openly expressed his dissent over bifurcation of the state, speculation is rife over the CM being replaced in Andhra Pradesh. There were reports that Congress is planning a change of guard in the state to avoid any opposition to divide the state and also to ensure Congress fares well in the upcoming general elections.
Although there are many contenders for the post, the frontrunner is none other than the Agriculture Minister Kanna Lakshminarayana. The buzz in the political circles is that Kanna will replace Kiran as chief minister if he the latter remains adamant on opposing the bifurcation process.
Sources also say that Congress has chosen Kanna so as to earn Kapu votes, which forms a major chunk in the state.
A poster that read “Coming soon. Kanna as CM” put up during a Rachchabanda programme in Guntur added fuel to speculation.
The rumours got stronger after Kanna met former PCC chief D Srinivas.
