In the next few days, Dr BR Ambedkar’s statue would adorn the assembly of soon to be formed Telangana state.
The relentless struggle launched by Telangana Jagruthi leader Kalvakuntla Kavitha, about two years ago has finally bore fruit.
Kavitha’s agitation for installation of Dr BR Ambedkar’s statue in state Assembly premises is now becoming a reality.
The AP State government has finally readied the statue of Dr BR Amdedkar to be installed in the state assembly premises in the next few days.
After appealing to the state government for installation of Dr BR Ambedkar in early 2012, Kalvakuntla Kavitha has organized a series of protests to pressurize the government. She undertook a 2 day fast with this demand in April 2012.

In Aug 2012 Kavitha met Lok Jana Shakti Leader Ram Vilas Paswan and sought his support to install Ambedkar’s statues in the assemblies of all states.
During Aug – Sept 2012 Kalvakuntla Kavitha also met leaders of all parties in the state and solicited their support on this issue. The leaders whom she met included Eetela Rajendar, Chandra Babu Naidu, YS Vijayamma and Nagabhaurava Jayaprakash Narayana.

Dr BR Ambedkar’s statue would be installed next to Mahatma Gandhi’s statue in front of the state assembly.
This statue would be a befitting tribute to the architect of Indian Constitution and also the person who had drafted Article 3 which deals with creation of new states.
Telangana people would be indebted to this great leader who played a major role in liberating Telangana from the ‘Tyranny of Majority’.
