Jupalli Krishna Rao’s Resignation Accepted

The saga of sacrifices for Telangana state continues as Governor E S L Narasimhan accepted the resignation of Endowments Minister Jupalli Krishna Rao today.

This step by Jupalli will definitely increase the pressure on rest of the T Ministers, as Telangana agitators have been demanding their resignations from long.

“On the advice of the Chief Minister, the Governor has been pleased to accept the resignation of Jupalli Krishna Rao with effect from June 1,” a press communique from the Raj Bhavan said this evening.

Rao met the Governor yesterday and submitted his resignation. The legislator from Kollapur in Mahbubnagar district had started a padayatra (foot march) last month demanding creation of Telangana state but had to stop when fellow Minister D K Aruna and her supporters stopped him.

In fact, the Congress leader had forwarded a letter to party President Sonia Gandhi in March, saying he would step down as Minister if Telangana state was not created.

Information Technology Minister Ponnala Lakshmaiah, currently on an official trip to Israel, has been handed over additional charge of Endowments Department till alternative arrangements are made.
