The inaugural plaza and the specially designed pylon located next to the entrance of Miyapur metro station, to be unveiled by Prime Minister, Narendra Modi on Tuesday, could well turn-out to be the most clicked landmark in Hyderabad.
Unlike other monuments that are usually fenced off, the plaza is an open monument, accessible to all and in the process also become a ‘selfie’ point for commuters. Designed by well-known senior architect from city Shankar Narayan, the plaza embodies the hoary heritage of Hyderabad and yet sports a contemporary look, Metro Rail officials said.
The three arches coming out of a pond reflect the three corridors of the Metro Rail and each arch is designed as a rail track which vanishes into infinity, signifying the future expansion of the Metro Rail system.
The unique features of the Hyderabad Metro and a comparison of two iconic Railways viz., the Nizam State Railway and the Hyderabad Metro are etched on the stainless steel arch panels. The inaugural plaque in the middle of the pond sports latest 3-D look,” said architect Shankar Narayan.
Cobblestoned granite podium adds a rich look to the plaza and will act as a differentiator from the ground level. “The landscape and lawn on both sides of the plaza will further elevate the ambiance and will become another hotspot for people to congregate and relax,” said MD, HMRL, NVS Reddy.
