HC cracks whip on polluting industries in Nalgonda

The state high court has issued notices to 8 highly polluting industries in Nalgonda district. The court directed the Pollution control Board to serve closure notices to such highly polluting industries.

The court was responding to a petition filed by TRS politbureau member Karne Prabhakar.

Ever since the AP Pollution Control Board (APPCB) has started acting tough with polluting industries in and around Hyderabad, the owners of these industries have been migrating to neighboring Telangana districts like Nalgonda, Mahabubnagar and Medak.

Red-Category, or highly polluting industries such as Pharma, Bulk-Drugs, Chemicals, Cement and Sponge Iron plants have mushroomed in and around Choutuppal, Chityal, Pochampally, Mellacheruvu, Narketpally, Bhuvanagiri, and Bibinagar.

Even Orange-Category industries such as Par-boiled mills and stone crushers have started flouting all PCB rules and are leading to air, land and water pollution.

Thousands of acres of fertile land in the district has already been rendered useless with the pollution emanating from these industries.
