Govt. schools witness major overhaul in Telangana

The otherwise desolate, ruined sans any facilities, the government schools are in for a major facelift with Telangana state government giving special attention.

Launching the Mana Ooru Mana Badi programme, as many as 1,210 schools in the first phase were spruced up with bright colours, adding all the facilities such as toilets, kitchens, new benches, electricity supply, laboratory, library, and whatnot.

A total of 12 different variety of works were undertaken in each school making them the most sought-after both for the teachers and students. Now excellent ambience prevails at these schools.

In the first phase, all those schools with over 100 students numbering 9,129 were identified. Of them, 5,999 are primary schools, 1,009 are upper primary and 2,715 are high schools. Works costing less than Rs. 30 lakh were executed without tenders to avoid delay and two each from one mandal were selected.

In the first phase 71,115 classrooms were painted enhancing the aesthetic beauty of the schools.
Among other works include pathways, arches, greenery, new fans and four LED lights in each class, battery-operated taps, 3.41 dual desks for children, 1.39 lakh green chalk piece boards were arranged.
