Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao on Saturday warned that the government will not spare land grabbers, who are encroaching upon water bodies, storm water drains and shikam lands in the State.
“The State government is planning to book criminal cases against the land grabbers,” he said. Harish Rao along with Home Minister Nayini Narasimha Reddy, GHMC Special Officer Somesh Kumar and other senior officials of the GHMC, on Saturday inspected the Chinarayani Cheruvu in Alwal circle where the civic body is removing hyacinth and algae with the help of a Weed Harvester, which was used in cleaning the river Ganga.
Harish Rao said the weed harvester, the first of its kind to be used in the state, would help remove the accumulated hyacinth and algal weeds from the lakes without any hassles.
Harish rao also said ‘’Mission Kakatiya’’ has been taken up as per the directions of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and stressed that it was the moral responsibility of every citizen to take protect lakes and curb encroachments.
