Telangana government is taking stringent actions in order to speed up the developmental works in Hyderabad’s Old City. MA&UD Minister KT Rama Rao held a meeting with All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) MLAs in Hyderabad on March 21, 2018.
In the meeting, Minister Rama Rao discussed various developmental works in Old City. He reviewed the ongoing Charminar Pedestrianisation Project (CPP) works and mentioned that a dedicated team will be set up to look into the works. Minister Rama Rao emphasized the importance of heritage structures and instructed officials to pay more attention to cultural aspects during the designing of the project.
A tourist footfall is expected after the completion of the project for which minister instructed officials to have an action plan to address the increasing numbers.
When the MIM MLAs asked Minister about the Metro rail connectivity from Nagole-Falaknuma- Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, he responded positively and assured that the government will consider and work on it in the coming future.
Later in the meeting, beautification and developmental works of Musi River were discussed. Rama Rao again mentioned that heritage and architectural components should be kept in mind while constructing bridges over Musi river.
Telangana Government has been providing funds for various development works in Old City. Taking a step forward, Minister Rama Rao stated that government is ready to release additional funds from Telangana Urban Finance and Infrastructure Corporation (TUFIDC) for the forthcoming works.
Anticipating high temperatures this summer, MLAs requested Minister to provide more water supply in areas of Old City. Responding positively, minister instructed officials to work on providing more water supply.
Minister stated that local residents should be given more awareness on the ongoing Nala and road development works in order to seek cooperation. He also ordered officials to set up more water kiosks and She toilets in the old city. Minister KT Rama Rao discussed the development of the Mozamjahi Market in the meeting.
Deputy Chief Minister Mahmood Ali, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) MLAs and HoDs of various departments from MA&UD participated in the meeting.
