Georgia keen on skill building tie-up with Telangana

The government today said the Georgia state in US is keen on collaborating with Telangana in skill development besides exploring partnership with Hyderabad-based companies in area of vaccine research.

“Georgia has expressed keen interest to work with Telangana to kick start initiatives for skill building in life sciences sector,” a release issued here said.

“In addition, the Georgia team also expressed interest to explore collaboration with Hyderabad-based companies in the area of vaccine development, after they were informed about the leadership position of Hyderabad in the area of vaccines, accounting for almost 1/3rd of the overall (global) production,” the release said.

Telangana’s industries minister Jupally Krishna Rao and a team of officials, currently touring USA, met with Amanda Shailendra, director of Life Sciences and Corporate Solutions in Georgia Department of Economic Development and Niki Knox Vanderslice, executive director of Business Development and External Affairs among others.

While Rao introduced the young state of Telangana with its industrial commitment, genome valley, policies and initiatives, Georgia highlighted the successful models of cluster development, research promotion and skill building in their state, it said.

Emory institute in Georgia is focused on vaccines and has sought the government’s support in identifying right counterparts for exploring collaborations with Hyderabad.
