The Telangana Assembly was rocked by protests by BRS legislators taking exception to some insensitive and crude remarks made by CM Revanth Reddy. The remarks were made when Revanth Reddy was trying to reply to the speech of BRS Working President KTR on the Budget Appropriation Bill.
To the surprise of everyone present in the house, CM Revanth Reddy said, “If you trust your two sisters (Sabitha Indra Reddy and Sunitha Laxma Reddy) sitting behind you, you will end up in front of Jubilee Bus Stand.” These insensitive and crude remarks made by the CM drew immediate reaction from the BRS Party legislators.
Several BRS MLAs rushed into the well to protest. They demanded that the CM should immediately withdraw his cheap comments on women leaders and also apologize. However, sensing trouble, the CM immediately left the Assembly, citing other engagements. The Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, who tried to justify the CM’s remarks, only ended up making a few more uncharitable remarks about Sabitha Indra Reddy. This led to serious protests by BRS legislators.
The Speaker had to adjourn the house for some time to control the situation. However, after the house resumed, the BRS legislators stuck to their demand that the CM’s remarks amounted to an insult to women. They chanted slogans that CM Revanth should immediately come to the house and apologize. The important Budget Appropriation Bill was unilaterally approved by the ruling party members amidst this din.
As the Speaker adjourned the house for tomorrow, the BRS MLAs came out of the Assembly chanting slogans against Revanth Reddy and also demanding that he apologize to the women for his cheap remarks.
BRS Working President KTR condemned the vulgar comments made by Revanth Reddy about Sabitha Indra Reddy and Sunita Laxma Reddy. KTR stated that Revanth Reddy has insulted all the women of Telangana. KTR said Revanth is unfit to be the CM of this state. KTR added that there are already very few women leaders in our country and such inhuman remarks about women leaders should be condemned by every citizen.
Speaking near the media point in the Assembly, both Sabitha Indra Reddy and Sunita Laxma Reddy turned emotional and said they did not expect Revanth to stoop so low. Both leaders condemned the uncharitable remarks made by the CM about them.
The BRS Party made it clear that they would not stop their protests until CM Revanth Reddy apologizes for his remarks insulting women.
