Citing the indifferent attitude of the BJP towards Telangana and the party moving away from its core principles as reasons, former MP Rapolu Ananda Bhaskar resigned from the primary membership of the BJP. He is expected to join the TRS soon.

Ananda Bhaskar recalled that with the encouragement from Late Arun Jaitley he had joined the party. Still, he was ignored, humiliated, underrated and excluded from the national role in the last four years and he swallowed all the agony.

He wrote, “Union Government has vigorously shown step-motherly treatment towards Telangana and grabbed away several rightful opportunities from Telangana.” He objected strongly to the party’s functioning in the recent past and felt that they are not following the guiding principles of the party such as integral humanism and antyodaya. The former MP said, “For reaping electoral benefits, terrifying and creating division is the hallmark of the party now.”

Ananda Bhaskar also came down heavily on the BJP for its anti-weavers policies. “Then, finance minister late Arun Jaitley heard my plea for zero GST on cotton, silk, wool, jute and natural fibres. It’s still not considered but GST on fabrics and apparel was brought down from the proposed 18 per cent to 5 per cent. This is serving MNCs and corporates instead of middle-class small producers and weavers,” he lamented.

Rapolu Ananda Bhaskar was a Rajya Sabha member of the Congress party till 2018. He joined the BJP in April 2019.
