One of the Disaster Response Force (DRF) teams stationed on the prime Banjara Hills road, saved lives of the citizens who were injured after their two-vehicles skid on the oil spill road.
In the early hours on Monday, Multiple two-vehicles ended up sliding across the road which is opposite to GVK One mall. Oil leakage from an unidentified vehicle must have led to this chaos, said officials.
Narrating the incident to Mission Telangana team, Wajeed, DRF member said, “One Honda Activa skid on the road leaving one person injured. We came to his rescue and gave him first aid. Within minutes, a couple of two-vehicles slid across the same road, leading to chaos.”
The DRF team immediately swung into action and helped the victims. The DRF members gave first aid to the victims and ensured their safety until an ambulance reached the spot to shift the victims to the nearest hospital. Later, with the help of sanitation workers, the DRF team cleaned the oil spill.
“We see a heavy vehicle movement on this road. Since the incident took place in the early hours, there was no much damage caused,” said Wajeed.
When asked if he was fasting (being the month of Ramzan) and faced challenges in executing his duties, Wajeed said, “I am fasting but I don’t have any problem while I am on duty. Our officials have trained us to face any kind of situation.”
The Telangana Government launched Disaster Response Force (DRF) in August 2018 to combat situations like flash floods, heavy rains, building collapse and fire mishaps in GHMC limits. Within one year of its inception, DRF has registered many rescue stories.
