CM to lay wreath at War Memorial

Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao will join senior officers – serving and retired, of the Army, Navy and Air Force in laying wreath at the ‘War Memorial’ (‘Veerula Sainikula Samark’) near Parade Ground Secunderabad on August15 morning to pay homage to the martyrs.

An all religion prayer will be performed first to pay tributes to martyrs. A military band performance will also be conducted in the evening at two places – Army Parade Ground, Secunderabad by the EME Centre and the Artillery Centre on its premises in Golconda for the general public.

The Army wants people’s participation in large numbers for the Independence Day Celebrations to imbibe a spirit of patriotism and encourage youth to join the Army and Air Force as their career.

A one-day exhibition to display army weapons and equipment is also being organised by Bison Division on August 14 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Army Parade Ground, Secunderabad and at Garrison Mehdipatnam in Hyderabad to bring awareness among people and also inspire the youth to join the Indian Army.

Around 10,000 school children are expected to witness the display of weapons and equipment in the early hours and later in the afternoon general public are also allowed to visit the display. Artillery Centre, Golconda will also organise the weapons and equipment display on its premises in Golconda for students and general public, an official spokesman said in a press release.

Similarly, the Air Force Station Hakimpet will organise an exclusive static display of aircraft, arms, ground equipment, display of sky diving by dare-devil team and visit of Air Force Museum especially for school and college students on its premises at Hakimpet.
