Much to the surprise and happiness of the people of Telangana, the chief minister Mr K Chandrasekhar Rao has now decided to expedite the works of development of Vemulawada temple.
The presiding deity here is Lord Rajarajeswara swamy in the shape of Shiva Ling. But over the decades it came to be known as Vemdulawada Rajanna temple.
It is a very ancient and powerful temple drawing scores of devotees from all over. However, due to neglect during the rule of Andhra Pradesh state, it did not witness any development. The surroundings of temple look very poor from crowds surging without any facilities. Even the temple inside looked untidy without any proper maintenance.
After formation of Telangana, the chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao visited the temple two times and decided to develop it. He constituted Vemulwada Temple Area Development Authority and appointed retired IAS office M Purshottam Reddy for the purpose.
The inner space of temple that is 16 guntas will be increased 40 guntas, the bathing ghat by the side of temple will be developed with Rs 90.36 crore, to turn the 65 acres of land into a beautiful spot around the spot, so far 37 acres were acquired with Rs 30 crore. It was also decided to acquire 28.29 acres with Rs 22 crore for a ring road around the bus stand.
Once quaint Vemulwada town will soon transform into a modern town.
The priest’s and local traders thanked the chief minister for his initiative.
