Chief minister Mr K Chandrasekhar Rao said the country had gone back under the BJP regime on all fronts.
The unsound policies and discriminatory attitudes of the central government also affected the states.
Under the BJP regime, the GDP had fallen to six percent from eight percent, and over five lakh industries were closed down rendering lakhs of people jobless. The unemployment rate which was 4.7 percent under the UPA regime had gone up to 7.11 percent under the present BJP regime.
On the Human Development Index, the country has gone down to 131 from 80th position and in terms of protection of democratic values, it had fallen to 93rd position from 56th position.
Mr KCR said the GSDP should be Rs 14.3 lakh crore and not Rs 11.5 lakh crore.
Dispelling the doubts of Opposition leaders, the chief minister said the debt of Telangana state is within the manageable limit and there was nothing to worry about. It was far behind 24 other states in the country.
The country’s debt is Rs 152 lakh crore, he pointed out.
The chief minister found fault with the BJP government for diluting the federal spirit of the country. A strong centre and weak states are not desirable and there should be a balance.
The country’s economy started falling down before the Covid period and one should not attribute the present state to Covid. It was the policies of the BJP that resulted in the decline of the country’s economy.
