CM KCR has kept his word yet again. As promised in the mammoth public meeting at Khammam, the CM has sanctioned a bridge across the river Munneru in Khammam. A Government Order was released to this effect.
An amount of Rs. 180 crores was sanctioned for the construction of this 420-meter bridge of which 300 meters is cable-stayed and the remaining 120 meters is RCC type. The high-level cable bridge will come up on Suryapet to Ashwaraopet road in Khammam town limits.
It has to be recalled that the Telangana government has constructed two cable-stayed bridges after the state formation. The one that came up across the Durgam Cheruvu lake in Hyderabad has turned out to be a major tourist attraction. The works of the Karimnagar cable bridge are nearing completion and the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) has proposed a cable-stayed bridge at Mir Alam Tank.
Also, the government has built two suspension bridges across the lakes in Siddipet and Khammam towns. These suspension bridges became a popular hangout spot for the locals.
