The city will soon boast of another landmark, a rose garden being developed by the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA). The garden is ready for inauguration and will be a visual treat for visitors.

The sprawling garden near Sanjeevaiah Park is one of the best rose gardens in the country. With the opening of this garden, citizens will not have to travel all the way to Chandigarh or Ooty to catch a glimpse of roses.

As many as 600 varieties of roses with over 5,000 plants have been planted in the garden.

The garden will be thrown open to public after it is inaugurated by chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.

HMDA metropolitan commissioner Neerabh Kumar Prasad told Express that the garden has been developed on a 5.25-acre land and all efforts had been made to make it the best garden in the country with respect to area and the number of varieties.

The garden will have surrounded by the Hussain Sagar lake and greenery. “Apart from developing the rose garden, the HMDA developed walking pathways for the visitors,” Prasad said.

The garden was built with the support of the Rose Society of India and the Hyderabad Rose Society, which provided expert assistance for implementing the project. The entry fee collected will be used in the maintenance of the garden.
