In another victory for Telangana movement, the AP state government has scrapped the mining lease of Bayyaram iron ore given to Rakshana Steels – a company owned by Brother Anil Kumar, son-in-law of late YS Rajasekhar Reddy.
This is one of a series of controversial Government Orders issued by YSR government, that the state government is scrapping of late. This has been a long pending demand of Telangana movement.
Bayyaram mining lease is perhaps the biggest mining scandal in India. This involves about 1,41,725 acres of land in Khammam and Warangal district. The estimated iron ore deposits in these lands is estimated at several lakhs of crores.
Several political parties including TRS, CPI and CPI ML New Democracy have launched a series of agitations demanding the scrapping of this illegal allotment.
TRS has welcomed this move and demanded that these mining should be carried on by state government only and the revenue obtained should be spent on Telangana region.
