The state government will be distributing 62,000 double bedroom houses to the poor by Sankranthi festival in January.
The Roads & Buildings (R&B) minister Mr Vemula Prashanth Reddy instructed all the collectors to make necessary arrangements for the purpose.
The TRS government had taken up construction of 1.29 lakh houses of which 62,000 are complete. The rest were different stages of construction in municipal wards and villages.
The minister asked tge district collectors to select the beneficiaries by January 15. Before that necessary basic amenities should be put in place, he said.
Only those possessing white ration cards and living rented homes are eligible for a double bedroom house. If the number of beneficiaries are more, they should be selected through a lucky draw; the rest should be included in the waiting list.
Mr Prashanth Reddy also asked the collectors to expedite survey of podu lands.
He said the construction of a new secretariat building, the 125 feet statue of Dr B R Ambedkar and Telangana martyrs memorial are in the final stage of completion.
The minister accompanied by the chief secretary Mr Somesh Kumar inspected the ongoing works at the new secretariat.
