Bharti Airtel and Hyderabad Runners have announced the Airtel Hyderabad Marathon (AHM) Race weekend on August 23 and 24. The event will feature a set of programmes till the race day, which will culminate as the grand finale of the fourth edition of the AHM on August 24.
State Information and Technology Minister K.T. Rama Rao, who along with the organisers was present at the curtain raiser, said he would participate in the 5K run, which is slated to begin at Gachibowli on August 24. AHM, which is being organised as part of ‘Happening Hyderabad’, a State government initiative, will also host the AHM 2014 Expo at the Hitex on August 23.
Murali Nannapaneni, race director, AHM, said that all safety issues for runners have been looked after.
“This time there are about 1,500 volunteers who will be part of the event,” he stated. Also, exclusive to the marathon weekend,
Arun Bharadwaj, India’s foremost ultra marathoner, will attempt to run for 24 hours straight on a treadmill.
Mr. Nannapaneni also said that this time about 8,000 to 1,000 people are expected to be part of the event.
