Having drawn the attention of the people and the ruling class to the Telangana issue at national capital, the TJAC has now decided to continue to exert pressure on the Central government by organising another mega programme, Chalo Assembly in Hyderabad, when the House meets again in the budget session.
The JAC’s two-day Sansad Yatra ended in a scuffle with the Delhi police on Tuesday when they tried to march on the Parliament House.
TJAC chairman M Kodandaram told mediapersons in Delhi on Wednesday that people of Telangana region were hurt over the betrayal by the Congress and were awaiting to teach it a fitting lesson. The Chalo Assembly programme would be a reflection of the people’s anger at the Congress, Kodandaram said, adding that he would seek the support of like-minded national parties for the Chalo Assembly programme too.
He came down heavily on chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy for his comments intended to incite the people of Telangana on the Bayyaram mines in Khammam district. At a time when people were demanding establishment of an integrated steel plant at Bayyaram, the chief minister was not only adamant about transfer of iron ore to Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (Visakhapatnam Steel Plant) but was also adopting a confrontationist attitude over the issue.
