One of the popular tourist destinations in Mahbubnagar is a single tree. Yes, the huge, 700-year-old Banyan Tree, at Pillalamarri in the district continues to be a major tourist attraction because of its history as it is spread over three acres and can easily give shelter to about 1,000 people at a time. It shelters the tomb of a Muslim saint and the added attraction is an aquarium, a mini zoo and an archaeological museum in the vicinity. The Hindu photographer Nagara Gopal captures some sections of the massive tree.
