A Ton Scored and a Task Cut Out

The youngest state in India – Telangana – is 100 days old now. So is the age of the government headed by K Chandrasekhar Rao. He led the Telangana agitation to a triumphant end – creation of a new state – and he is now trying to transform the State into what he describes as a “golden Telangana”. On the occasion of KCR completing 100 days in office, here is a wrap-up of what he has announced so far. A majority of these announcements are yet to translate into tangible actions. It is expected that in the upcoming budget session in September end-October, clear-cut budgetary allocations would be made for these projects

1.Industries-SCCL- Pharma-Power

Industries

For promotion of investments, a single window industrial policy to be unveiled soon.

Transparent, easy and graft-free policies to sanction permissions and licences to industries.

Single window, a special chasing cell in the Chief Minister’s office to be set up.

Telangana State Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TSIIC) to play a key role.

Industrial corridors will be organised by allotting five lakh acres to TSIIC. TSIIC will monitors logistics, establishment of townships and other activities.

Singareni Collieries Company (SCCL) to be made as a state-owned company

The government to buy entire central government’s stake in it so that SCCL would become a totally State-owned company.

SCCL should participate in bidding for coal blocks outside India.

Four super-speciality hospitals to come up for Singareni workers. They will be located in Khammam, Warangal, Adilabad and Karimnagar. SCCL may set up a medical college in future.

Ten per cent water of existing irrigation projects and those who are expected to come up to be allocated to industries

Pharma sector

7,000 acres – Pharma city to come up near Hyderabad with easy access to national highway and railways.

It will have industry as well as residential colony.

500 mw power plant to be set up next to pharma city.

Power and water supply and other infrastructure facilities to be provided by the State government.

Power sector

4000 mw – power plant at Ramagundam adjacent to their existing units.

Land to be allotted by the State government.

The first unit expected to be commissioned within 39 months.

Long term and medium term plans to purchase power from Chhattisgarh. 1000 mw power to be bought from Chhattisgarh. MoU with Chhattisgarh Power Distribution Company.

1,500 mw to be obtained through dedicated lines and to negotiate for 2,000 mw on medium term basis from Chhattisgarh to meet needs for the next five years.

2.New Units

Coca Cola to set up a large plant with an investment of Rs 1,000 cr with government support.

The company to participate in the government’s community development programmes.

IKEA, world’s largest furniture and textiles retail company to set up its first store in India in Hyderbad.

This will place Hyderabad on international map of Ikea stores.

The company to invest Rs 550 to Rs 600 cr.

3.Farmers – Crop Loans

Waiver of crop loans up to Rs 1 lakh including farm loans raised on gold.

40 lakh – Families to be benefited

Rs 18,000 crore Burden on the government

4.Hyd-Policing & Master Plan

Efforts to keep up Hyderabad brand image

Sania Mirza appointed telangana brand ambassador

Priority to law and order for safety to women, and people of all walks of life.

Closed circuit cameras will be set up everywhere and vigilance with citizen participation to be taken up.

Rs 350 crore spent for purchase of modern vehicles to the police department equipped with GPS, Internet.

Hyderabad to be made wi-fi city with participation of private oragnisations.

5.Honouring of prominent personalities of Telangana

People’s poet Kaloji Narayana Rao
His birth centenary beginning on September 9 to be an official programme to be organised at Warangal and Hyderabad.

In three acres of land in Bala Samudram in Warangal, an auditorium to be named Kaloji Cultural Trust will be built.

A horticulture garden will be developed by the government and a statue will be unveiled on the same premises.

Dasarathi Krishnamacharya

An award to be instituted in the name of Dasarathi. His latest birth anniversary on July 22 was celebrated as a state function.

Nawab Jung: Birth anniversary of the famous engineer and architect of many water reservoirs in and around Hyderabad was organised officially on July 11.

His statue was unveiled in Hyderabad.

His birth anniversary would be called engineers’ day in the State.

Prof K Jayashankar

The Telangana ideologue was honoured by renaming Acharya NG Ranga Agriculture University as Prof Kothapalli Jayashankar Telangana State Agriculture University.

PV Narasimha Rao

The government to recommend to the centre to award Bharat Ratna.

The state to construct a memorial, name one of the districts to be created and a university after him.

KCR urges Centre to construct a memorial for him in Delhi.
