4.35 Lakhs Acres to Get Water in Rangareddy District

Irrigation minister T Harish Rao has said they would provide irrigation water to 4.35 lakh acres in Rangareddy district.

Harish Rao convened a meeting on the issues pertaining to Rangareddy district irrigation projects in the committee hall of the state Assembly on Monday.

He said that 2.7 lakh acres under Palamuru-Rangareddy lift irrigation scheme and one lakh acres under Dindi would provide irrigation water in the district. Another 70,000 acres would be given water from Pranahita, he added.

He explained that Tandur, Vikarabad, Chevella and Parigi Assembly segments would be covered under Palamuru-Rangareddy LIS, Ibrahimpatnam and Maheswaram under Dindi and Medchal would be given irrigation water through Pranahita, he said.

He said that earlier government planned to provide water to 2.10 lakh acres to Rangareddy district under Pranahita-Chevella, after the reengineering and redesigning of the projects, a total 4.35 lakh acres would be provided water.

Harish Rao said the state government planned to utilise its share of water in Krishna and Godavari rivers and provide water for the second crop in the state.
