The Telangana Police have done a tremendous job in tracing and reuniting the missing girls and women with their families. In the last three years, the police have traced and rescued around 86 percent of missing women and girls. Only Kerala is above Telangana on this count in the country.
According to the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) data, the solved missing cases of girls and women in Telangana in the years 2019, 2020, 2021 are 87.15%, 81.23%, and 87.76% respectively. The national average for the same in the said period is a meagre 54%. While the percentage of women traced is just 52%, the percentage of the girls traced is a little above 62% in the last three years.
On the other hand, contrary to the tall claims made by the BJP and Congress leaders in Telangana, the states ruled by both national parties fared poorly in rescuing the missing women. The BJP-ruled states like Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, and Haryana have solved only 47.61%, 57.91%, and 63.96% of missing cases respectively. The recovery percentage in states such as Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan ruled by the Congress are just 47.74% and 61.42%.
Telangana’s high recovery rate in missing cases demonstrates the efficiency of the police force and the commitment of the state government to protect its citizens.
