It clearly appears that the Telangana State Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (TSSPDCL) has ordered the PR agency to delete fake accounts on ‘X’ after being exposed. Yesterday, ‘Mission Telangana’ reported that the southern discom has hired a PR agency to shield themselves from the public outrage in light of increased complaints about power outages.
Today, many of those accounts disappeared from ‘X’, while some accounts deleted tweets and replies. More than 100 such fake accounts were created in April 2024 to abuse and harass complainants who post about power cuts. These accounts with deceptive identities and fictitious names post, repost, and reply only to content related to TSSPDCL and the complaints raised by consumers.
After getting caught and the subsequent backlash from netizens, the government body has resorted to this damage control by deleting fake accounts.
