TRS on warpath to save Telangana lands

After successfully highlighting the injustice done to Telangana region in MBBS seat allotment and Krishna water allocation, TRS has taken up another important issue – the Telangana land sales.

TRS MLA K. Tarakarama Rao led a huge contingent of Telangana activists and TRS cadre to the Hyderabad Metro Development Authority (HMDA) office in Tarnaka and staged a dharna in protest against the proposed sale of lands by HMDA.

He issued a stern warning to the state government to stop all government land sales in the Telangana region with immediate effect. KTR recounted how successive governments of Chandra Babu Naidu and YS Rajasekhar Reddy have auctioned off thousands of acres of valuable  lands in and around Hyderabad to their cronies. KTR said that these lands were a legacy left behind by the erstwhile Nizam’s and rightfully belonged to the people of Hyderabad.  He said all these lands should ideally be used to set up government infrastructure and build homes for the downtrodden.

The TRS leader also warned that once Telangana state is formed, all the land sales by HMDA, AP Housing Board and APIIC would be scrutinized and declared void.

TRS Politburo member Dr. Dasoju Sravan Kumar severely criticized the state government for the mindless disposal of this precious public asset. He said that the Seemandhra rulers are conspiring to deprive the new Telangana state of a most essential and valuable asset.

TRS Ex-MLA Padma Rao, TRSV leader Balka Suman also participated in the dharna.

HMDA commissioner Neerabh Kumar Prasad, who went incommunicado through out the morning, finally came to the dharna site and promised that he would pass on the information to the state government.
