Telangana Congress BC leaders demand fair representation in MLA ticket allotment

Once again, Congress leaders took to the streets slinging mud at each other. The fresh row is from the BC leaders who are demanding a fair share of tickets in the ensuing Assembly elections. Espousing the cause, former minister Ponnala Laxmaiah and others demanded that the party high command give three tickets in each Parliamentary constituency to the candidates from BC communities. Mr Laxmaiah said the party leadership seems to be blind and without asking for seats, it would not give. The party leadership is in the hands of one community, he rued.

It was the BC leaders who work at the ground level but a single forward caste community hijacks the plum posts within the party and the government. If the party leadership fails to respond to their grievances and demand, they will show their strength in the elections, said Mr Laxmaiah. More BC leaders agree with Mr Laxmaiah and decide to join him for the cause of BC communities. Senior BC leader in the Congress party, V Hanumantha Rao said the prospects of the party are threatened if the leadership ignored the demands of BCs. It is high time that the party gives proportionate seats to all communities, he added.
