As the Telangana government has decided to set up eight more new medical colleges in the state, the total number of MBBS seats goes up to 10,000 seats. It is a record of sorts to have one medical college in each of the 33 districts in the state. It was the decision taken by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao. In nine years, 29 new medical colleges were established in the state. This is described as a revolution in the Medical and Health sector in Telangana state and is peerless in the country.
The proposed new medical colleges will be coming up at Jogulamba Gadwal, Narayanpet, Mulugu, Warangal, Medak, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Ranga Reddy and Medchal Malkajgiri districts. Health Minister T Harish Rao and others thanked the chief minister and said the students of the state were going abroad to study medicine. They find it unaffordable in the country. For all those students and those who dream to become doctors, now the Telangana government offers a solution. The MBBS seats rose by five and a half per cent in the state.
