New housing colony to the flood-hit people of Bhadrachalam, CM KCR.

 

The chief minister  Mr K Chandrasekhar Rao has promised to build a new housing colony for nearly 1,500 to 2,000 people whose houses were inundated in flood waters.

Due to the overflowing river Godavari and incessant rains, several colonies in Bhadrachalam town were submerged. Mr KCR who visited the town interacted with those in rehabilitation centres and promised them of new housing colony. He said he would come for the inauguration as well.

As a temporary measure, he announced a cash assisance of Rs 10,000 to each family and 20 kg rice to each family for the next two months.

The chief minister instructed officials to be on alert till July 29 and allow the victims to stay in shelters even after flood waters receded.

Mr KCR also instructed officials to study the contour of the town. Soon the state government would take the help of IIT professors and prepare a plan for building permanent structures that could resist any amount of flood. He also said a strong retaining wall would be built around the temple as well.
