KCR’s efforts pay off; L&T to repair Medigadda barrage

BRS Party President KCR’s fight for the repair of the Medigadda barrage has yielded results, with the construction company L&T stepping forward to repair the damaged piers. L&T has decided to construct a cofferdam at their own expense to facilitate the repairs.

The company has committed to constructing a cofferdam near pillars 19, 20, and 21 of the 7th block of Medigadda barrage to mitigate risks before the onset of floods. Despite assurances that the sagging pillars could be rectified within two months, the then BRS government faced criticism from the Congress party, both then in opposition and now in power. While solutions were proposed, including the construction of a cofferdam to ensure water supply, the previous government’s response was questioned, exacerbating water scarcity during the dry season.

Initially, L&T had requested the state government to fund the renovation of Medigadda barrage and cofferdam construction, citing adherence to government-provided designs. However, recent developments indicate a shift, with L&T undertaking restoration works.
