Telangana state Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan has rejected the two names proposed by the state cabinet for nomination as members of the State Legislative Council shocking everyone once again. She has written a letter to the state government stating that she cannot consider the names of Dasoju Sravan and Kurra Satyanarayana who were proposed by the state cabinet to be nominated as MLCs.
The Governor argued that they do not have the required background such as literary, cultural and social work background under the Governor category. She further said they are from political backgrounds and asked the state government not to propose the names of political leaders. It is quite surprising to argue like that as she herself was BJP Tamil Nadu unit president before being appointed as Governor of Telangana. If she could become Governor being a BJP leader, how come Sravan and Satyanarayana who hail from socially backward castes and in public service for a long time not eligible to be nominated at MLC, many people questioned on social media platforms.
Scores of BRS leaders and general citizens faulted the Governor’s decision on the issue. She has been acting at the behest of her party BJP bosses rather than as a constitutional head as she claims to be. She had earlier refused to several bills sent by the State Assembly after a unanimous resolution including the one pertaining to the recruitment board for universities. They are still pending with her office. Her attitude towards the state government only raises eyebrows on her conduct as the Governor of a state.
